I’m Roman
Been writing for many years. It’s my profession. It’s what I adore. It’s where my time and energy go. It’s what all this is about. I’ve come a long way and crossed a lot of bridges on my journey to this place. I’m excited to share that journey with you.
The journey
I began writing my debut novel, 20xx, three years ago. But I wrote my debut novel five years before that and wrote part of my debut novel six years before that. I’ve shelved several manuscripts because they weren’t right. I wasn’t right. The time wasn’t right. I believe in gestation. It takes the writer, the idea, and the readiness. All three must merge at the correct moment.
If you’re like me you understand that writing doesn’t begin when you touch pen to paper. It begins long before that. By adventuring (and bumbling) through life. It happens through steps and missteps. The writing begins when you start living. For me it wasn’t the living that was the problem. It was managing the byproducts. Hard-living makes for hard-recovering.
20xx
If you followed from Medium, you might be familiar with my prose style. Poetry in prose is a guiding hand. Succinct storytelling. Strong editing. I’m excited to discuss my novel-writing process. I’m also excited to have you here, ready to receive the first copies, when it goes live. The manuscript is written. Edits are under way. This is the place for all things related to 20xx.
Engagement
Finally, I would like to create bonds. Writing is about community. Dialectic engagement. Discussion. These are the rivets in the framework of authorship and writing. We are here to consider ideas and leave each other better off.
I wish you the very best in your own journey. Practicality, self-awareness, and endless exploration.
All my best.
Roman
Roman, I just bought your book, BLACKED, on Kindle. There are over 100 reasons I did. Thank you.
A pleasure to meet you, Roman. I write every day but I might not post every day. I think you’re in good company on Substack, so welcome!
